Our Lady of Solitude Homework Policy

  • Homework should be challenging, meaningful, and purposeful.

  • Assignments should relate to class learning objectives.

  • No assignments should be given over school breaks. Tests may not be given the first day back from a break.

  • Homework should not require the use of technology or the purchase of any items besides normal school supplies.

  • Teachers may provide parents and students with optional extension activities on a regular basis. Optional extension activities may include the use of technology or the purchase of items, but should not be limited to activities that include those things.

One consideration with homework duration, especially at the beginning of the year: some students work faster than others. As students learn teacher expectations and gain more experience in reading, writing, and calculating, they will complete homework at faster rates.

It is important for students to take full advantage of Study Hall. Not only can students complete homework during this time, but teachers will be available to them at this time if they need assistance.
